Replacing the 911SC the Carrera name was re introduced from 1984. The new car had a largely new and improved 3.2ltr flat 6 cylinder unit with many components carried over from the 930 Turbo. Power was now 231BHP and the 0 - 60 mph sprint took 6.1 seconds on its way to a claimed top speed of 152mph.

According to the Porsche Certificate of Authenticity, our car is a LHD Carrera Cabriolet finished in Ruby Red metallic paintwork with black leather interior and was manufactured in December 1984, just within the first year of production of the newly launched model. Optional equipment when built include the front & rear spoilers and 16" Fuchs forged alloy wheels.

Originally delivered to Dallas Texas, the clean Carfax Data Report confirms that the car stayed in the local area prior to us importing the car in 2015. The last keeper change was in 1999 and was used until 2004 when the car had an inspection and huge mechanical reconditioning with a detailed invoice on file for $13,484 at 100,769 miles - since then the car was unused and dry stored for 11 years.

Once the car arrived with us we did a full evaluation and fully photographed and catalogued our findings prior to any planned restoration process.

We found the car to be still fitted with the original matching engine and transmission and the body to be in a remarkable rust free condition with the underside looking as if it had never seen a dirty road. On top, the bodywork was all original but with faded, sun bleached paintwork with chipping to the front end. There was a minor scrape to the right hand rear wheel arch. Inside, the original black leather seats had gone hard with years of scorching Texas sun and the stitching had come apart. The dashboard top had also cracked in the sun. The soft top hood and tonneau cover were in perfect condition.

With the car so original and in such a rust free condition we then embarked on an extensive restoration programme to bring the car back to its former glory.

Firstly we fully stripped down the car, including removal of glass, to bare metal and made any necessary minor repairs to the bodywork prior to priming and finishing in the original Ruby Red metallic colour. The bumpers were stripped and new European over riders and bumper trims fitted. At the same time new Bosch European headlights were fitted with colour coded bezels. The original Fuchs forged alloy wheels were refurbished with the rims polished. The car was then reassembled utilising new rubber seals where necessary. Inside the car, the dashboard top cover was replaced along with the leather seat covers, door cards and lower door storage bins. The carpets were in good condition, as were the rear seats, and therefore retained.

Mechanically, being as the car had been stored for so long, we fully serviced the engine, reset the valve clearances and changed the fluids. The brakes were stripped down, reconditioned, lubricated and the brake fluid changed. Due to the age of the tyres on the car, a new set was fitted and balanced.

For the cars next owner, we have the extensive photographic file of before, during and after the recent works. This will confirm just how good the car is and is offered at a low market price for such a superb car.

We can assist with nationwide or overseas delivery and would welcome any inspection.
