Described by Enzo Ferrari as ‘the most beautiful car ever made’ when launched in 1961, the Jaguar E Type, or XK-E, was a high performance sports car built in the UK. Its combination of beauty, high performance and competitive pricing quickly established the model as an icon of the motoring world.

Available originally as a Fixed Head Coupe or Open Two Seater with a 3.8Ltr straight six cylinder engine all models had a monocoque body, rack & pinion steering, independent suspension and disc brakes. Later models had the larger 4.2Ltr 6 cylinder engine or the 5.3Ltr V12 unit. Automatic transmission was optional and a larger 2+2 body with rear seats was also available.

The car we are pleased to offer is a Series 2 2+2 fitted with the 4.2Ltr straight 6 engine. The Series 2 cars are easily distinguished by the larger lights being re positioned under the wrap around bumpers and a larger front air intake. Other details include improved dashboard switches with an ignition lock and mechanical changes including ribbed cylinder head rocker covers and twin electric cooling fans to name a few.

Finished in original Regency Red paintwork with Tan leather, our car was originally a Left Hand Drive car built in December 1969 and registered in California in 1970. The car was re patriated to the UK in 1989 and registered with an age related plate in 1991. Since then there have been continuous improvements to the car the most beneficial being the conversion to Right Hand Drive, a relatively common practice on these cars and certainly the best option of avoiding the heavily corroded home market cars. The biggest expenditure including major body and mechanical restoration was carried out around 2012 to 2014 with the paintwork holding up extremely well and the lovely tan leather trim showing just the right amount of patina.

History and documentation included with the car is the original bill of sale with title document and owners plate showing just the one Californian owner, the original Passport To Service book, owners handbook, service history receipts from the USA and documents relating to the importation into the UK. Since arrival in the UK the car has had just 4 previous keepers and a huge file of invoices and photographs of the restoration confirm the high quality of this vehicle. Also present are spare keys and tool kit.

To summarize, this is a high quality RHD manual E Type, priced very reasonably and is ready to enjoy immediately.
